Defining moments in 2009

What can I say? It will be 2010 in a few hours and at this period of time, people are penning down their new year’s resolutions. Instead of new year’s resolutions, I prefer taking a step back and review moments that have happened during the pass year. Especially for 2009, it has been one hell of an adventure ride with what seemed like endless of moments of life experiences that will be etched in my memory for a long long time.

  1. Officially graduating from SP in May. It was something I had look forward to during my years in SP. Being in the course was torturous for so many reasons. I know that I have wasted 3 years studying Optometry in SP, but I graduated with a diploma successfully. It’s a step that took me to where I am today. Under certain circumstances, perhaps this diploma will even help me in the future.

  2. Korea trip in March. Being able to step foot into my dream country for the first time was definitely one defining moment I will never forget. Experiencing the bit of life the Koreans led was awesome! We climbed mountains in Jeju-do, went to hotsprings in Gyeonggi-do, shopped till the wee hours in Dong Dae Mun, went to two of the most famous theme parks in Korea, Everland and Lotte World. Travelling with tour group provide these benefits of going to many sight-seeing places and other places where it would be difficult to go without tour guides. But I really want to go again without tour guide the next time, free and easy!

  3. FT Island Showcase in Singapore held in June. It was the last Kpop event before I left for Aus. Had a blast, having attended FTI’s live performance! <3

  4. Commencement of my study abroad in Brisbane, Aus in July. Most defining moment of all, hey? First time to Australia, first time to Brissie, first time to UQ, first time to do everything myself… So many first-times in Aus. Experiencing the life in Aus has definitely open up my eyes and made me realised that there is so much more out there than the little sunny island I grew up in. First semester of studies, although it can be stressful at times, was very interesting and enjoyable. For the first time (in my life thus far), I looked forward to studying! I looked forward to studying for my Korean oral/written exams. Guess that is sort of reflected from my results. :) Also, the friends I made in Aus come from all parts of the world and that really added colours to my life. :D

For this… I want to send this message to my mum who made these possible (sounds like I just received an award huh? LOL):

  5. Seoul’d Out Festival in Dec. One of the best evenings of the year! One could feel the intensity of Korean culture at fort canning that evening. Korean traditional performances, Korean B-Boys and best of all, Kpop artistes’ performances. Having to see FT Island for the 2nd time, watching Abracadabra “hip dance” live, seeing Kim Jun and T-Max rocked the stage was absolute craziness! :D

IRIS- epic drama with epic fail ending

image

SYNOPSIS: Assassin Kim Hyun Joon and psychological analyst Choi Seung Hee are lovers as well as colleagues at secret intelligence organization, NSS. Due to a friend’s betrayal, they go through hell with the unlucky fate of continually loving each other but unable to say or do anything about it. Jin Sa Woo is a secret agent who was at the top of his class. However, since meeting Hyun Joon and Seung Hee, he struggles to obey orders. He and Hyun Joon are friends in work but foes in love, as both care for Seung Hee.

The character played by T.O.P is an assassin for IRIS, a secret organization hidden the States. He has been assigned to kill Hyun Joon. Kim Sun Hwa is a North Korean security agent who follows her security team leader, Park Chul Yung, like a shadow. She is also ordered to chase after Hyun Joon, but falls in love with him after being discarded by her country.

The cast and crew will film in several different countries (Japan, U.S., China, Russia) with an astounding budget of approximately $15 million USD (based on March 17’s exchange rate).

While watching the drama, thoughts running through my mind were, “DAMN! This drama is AWESOME!” “This will probably be one of the few dramas which I’ve no complains about.”

But right till the end of the drama, the very end… comes with the most disappointing endings I’ve ever seen. :(

At the end, my thoughts were, “WHAT?! Is that it?! WTF?!” Actually I said those words out loud. I am so so so disappointed with the ending.

This drama is seriously one hell of a thrill ride with betrayal, conspiracies, heart-thumping action and romance. Everything is really awesome except the ending.

Why?!!! Such a large scale drama to end so pathetically…

I read that it was because the staff wanted to make way for a 2nd season but really, even so, the drama could have ended in a different way that will at least make audiences feel worth it. If you’ve watched it, you would know what I mean…

Anyways, there is another “special episode” that was released last week. I haven’t watched it yet… Will do so as soon as it’s available for DL. I hope this special will appease my extreme disappointment with the ending.

Without the ending, this drama is a 5 stars! But now… I don’t know, 3.5 or 4?

Been great so far

This week has been going great so far. Went for another round of K-session with LL and Error on Tuesday. I was able to sing to many Kpop songs due to the new system that Kbox has now. Impressively, they’ve added quite a number of Kpop songs from the last time I went. Sucha great time I had! But I still want to go to a noraebang (Korean KTV) with more Kpop choices for me to sing!

The following day I met up with Helek. It was funny and weird because we hung out so much in Aus (everyday, since we’re hsemates) and then we didn’t meet for almost a month when she came back to SG. But we finally meet again on Wednesday… We went shopping around Orchard Road for xmas presents for about 5 damn hours and went home EMPTY-HANDED. There were sooo many people, probably doing the same thing as us buying xmas presents, so we couldn’t really shop at ease. In the end, we just gave up. :x

Christmas eve night was spent with Error, Car and Peg. We went to watch the movie, Avatar.

May I say, Avatar is THE movie of the season or perhaps even movie of the year. I watched it trembling in my seat. Well, part of it is due to the cold but another part is due to how the story is turning out. It makes your hair stand and your goosebumps appear. It gives you the thrill… The twist of events and how human emotions are played on makes the movie top-notch. I feel like watching it again and again whenever I watch the movie trailer on TV.

Then came Xmas day. The day I finally drove on the road for the first time since I officially got my license. Drove from Woodlands to Bedok to fetch Chewz and Sowuwoh (Baby Sheryl). After that, switched driver to Chewz and she drove us to Yishun to fetch our Grandma, then to AMK. Haha, Chewz just passed TP not long ago, so she had fun driving on the road officially for the first time as well. So nice to have a car to drive around!

That day, all of us had dinner at Jumbo seafood restaurant. The food was not bad… But I prefer Seafood Paradise’s Chilli Crab. :D

The new year is just round the corner… and it’ll begin with another round of fantastic events with my family and friends. I’m gonna miss this terribly when I go back to Aus.

K-ent is revived in this blog

Have been staying at home these few days, except Tues when I went to City Square in JB for a shopping day out with LY and MS. The clothes there ain’t that cheap, most of the time prices are over 50RM. ><

I think I’ll leave most of my shopping to the Bangkok trip in Feb 2010! The main reason why I’m heading there is because of…

image
The whole idea of going to their concert materialized in my head when I chanced upon the overseas fan package the Thai organisers were offering! This offer does not only include a pair of tickets to FTI’s concert, but also a night of accommodation in the hotel where FTI will be staying!! OOOYEAH!

Besides, during the Seoul’d Out concert, LL was asking me if I was interested in going to Thai for a shopping trip. Bringing them altogether, THIS is the perfect chance to go to Thai! Concert, shopping, same hotel as FTI. Life couldn’t be any sweeter! ;D

Within these few days, the package has been paid for, confirmation with the Thai organisers and flight tickets booked!

Yippee! Imma see Seung Hyun again and this time in their very own full-fledged concert! This time, I’m gonna make sure the banner for him will be awesome and pretty! Hehehehe.

Okay, that aside. I’ve finally finish watching “Take Care of the Young Lady” today! That’s my 2nd Kdrama completed after coming back from Brissie.

image Drama starring Yoon Eun Hye (Goong, Coffee Prince) and Yoon Sang Hyun (Queen of Housewives).

Pretty good drama, but it got a little boring towards the end. I really liked Yoon Sang Hyun in “Queen of Housewives” that’s why I decided to give this drama a go. From a President of a company in QOH to a Butler in this drama… I prefer him as a President. And I have to say Eun Hye must have enjoyed filming this drama since she has got so many pretty dresses and accessories to wear! My god.

The 1st drama I watched when I came back was “You’re beautiful”.

imageDrama starring Jang Geun Seuk, Park Shin Hye, Jung Yong Hwa and Lee Hong Ki (FT Island). If you’re looking for a Kdrama to watch and have no idea what to watch, WATCH THIS. :)

But personally I find some of the characters a little irritating. For Park Shin Hye’s character, she’s weak and easily manipulated, as if she can’t think for herself or she’s always threatened by others even when there’s no reason for her to be. Sometimes I find Lee Hong Ki’s character a little irritating as well. Even though I’m a fan of FTI but in this drama, his character can be a little too overboard. And UEE’s character (the bad girl) is just… a bitch. :)

Generally the whole drama is worth-watching. Especially for people who likes looking at handsome guys! XD

Yahooo now I can start on epic Kdrama, IRIS! My kind of drama- action-packed and romance.

Seoul’d Out! 2009 (with an extra special at the end)

Last Saturday was completely amazing, awesome, wonderful, exciting, magnificent and just whatever positive adjectives there are to describe the evening. Although throughout the day, we suffered quite a bit but in the end, it was all worth it when we finally got to see the Kpop artistes performing on stage.

Biggest performers of the night were the 3 Kpop groups, FT Island, T-Max and Brown Eyed Girls! They were so so so awesome! I got to say, T-Max was the group that left the most lasting impression on my mind that night. They were absolutely on FIRE and were very INTO their performances. They also had lots of interaction with audiences during the performances. While rest of the groups gave their best to perform, they didn’t really engage with the audiences. I thought T-Max was the most “HIGH” out of all the groups.

However, I got to say two awful things happened to me that day. Firstly, my stupid digicam ran out of battery BEFORE the Kpop groups performances. So I didn’t manage to take any photos of them. Although I did take a few photos of SeungHyun with my phone but it was too blur to make out his facial features.

Secondly, it was the incident of the fan banner I made for SeungHyun.

11122009152
This was the banner I made for SH. The yellow Korean words stand for “Seung Hyun” while the orange word is “Jjang!” which is an equivalent to the english expression of “rocks!”. “Seung Hyun rocks!”

When FT-I came out, just like some other fans, I frantically waved my banner up. I waved, screamed and even jumped. Then when they started performing, I put down the banner (so that people at the back could see the perf) but waved again when it was SH’s turn to rap during the songs. After two FT-I perfs, I realised that one of the hangeul alphabet of SH’s name was dangling out from the banner! I was sooooo embarrassed at that time. To think I was standing right in his line of vision and frantically waving my stupid banner without realising that the words were dropping off! I felt so apologetic towards SH after that… I also noticed he didn’t smile a lot during the perfs that night, as compared to the FT-I showcase held in July this year. He was all smiles during their showcase…

Oh well, when I see FT-I again next year in Bangkok, I am going to make an awesome awesome fan banner for SH!! :)

Here are some photos of FT-I, T-Max and BEG. ALL THANKS TO JASMINE FOR THESE BEAUTIFULLY TAKE PHOTOS!!!!!!! :D :D
