Fun times with my buddies!

I guess it’s safe to say that the chalet we had from Friday to Sunday (15/01-17/01) was a successful one! I enjoyed almost every moment of it.

Being classmates from secondary school, we’ve known each other for 7-8 years now- LY, MS, LE, KH, TT, DS and I. During secondary school days and other outings we’ve had previously, we often face crisis of being indecisive on the things to do for the day. So we (some of us) had some worries as to how the chalet would turn out to be…

I thought that it would probably flop since we hadn’t decide what to do for majority of the time in chalet besides BBQing.

Turns out, we didn’t really do much typical chalet things like going to Escape, WWW, cycling, skating, etc, but we still had lots of fun. I’m not going to go into details of the chalet because if I do, this post will be a super long one…

Just know that throughout the 2 and a half days, we had lots of fun!

We had BBQ, played games throughout the 1st night (only sleeping at 7am), went to Party World KTV on the 2nd day, watched movies on the 2nd night and then went to have roti prata for breakfast on the 3rd day.

The activities might not seem fantastic, but all of us had fun because we were totally into each of them. Since we’ve known each other for so long and having sucha gathering is not easy, we just let loose! The little little occurrences that happened during these days were funny and memorable…

I hope we can do this again in the future! :D

P.S. Sorry couldn’t go into details of the chalet because there’re too many things to blog about! Maybe I’ll do so after my Taiwan trip…

No Bong Bong

Oh my gawwwd.

Today KH and I made a trip down to Chinatown just to exercise and eat burger king. =_=”

We wanted to go to a Korean KTV called Bong Bong Noraebang. FYI, noraebang means karaoke in Korean (it literally means ‘song room’). After walking and searching for Chinatown plaza for I don’t know how long under the sun, we finally found the rundown building where the noraebang was located in. When we went in, the number of people inside is less than the fingers we have on one hand. Not surprisingly since none of the shops/KTV was open!!

And that includes Bong Bong Noraebang!! D:

I was sooooo soooo disappointed. Then KH told me these kind of KTVs usually only open in the evening. SIANZ!! (Only then he start telling me… =.=”)

After that, we walked a few rounds, some looong distance before we settled down for lunch in burger king. I don’t want to type so long and describe how we were lost in Chinatown, walking here and there, searching for Pearl Centre just because it was the only air-conditioned place around the area. In short, it was a long, tiring, torturous, dehydrated and sweaty walk around Chinatown. X|

We chilled in Burger King for sometime, even practising some Korean which is when I realised I need to start revising my Korean! Meh. I can’t even remember some simple words. Oh and if you want to know how dehydrated I was, I drank two cups of regular ice lemon tea which actually was not enough but I didn’t want to buy anymore drinks.

In the end, I went to KH’s place to get some videos from him and see his SNSD (少女时代/ 소녀시대) collection. SNSD is a girl group from SME (same company as DBSK). Obviously KH has turned into a fanboy. Yay! Join the club! :P

Anyways we just watched some Kpop vids here and there, sang some Kpop songs as well. I realised I transferred more vids to him than him to me because his vids are all in mp4!! =.=”

Think I’m starting to write a complaint blog entry… HAHA. :P

Kpop in SG sure is growing in popularity. Some people whom I won’t even guess that may get hooked onto Kpop are fans of some korean groups…

What a difference from 3 years ago. ^^

Holmes

image

Met up with LL yesterday for movie and shopping sessions, two typical things we always do when we meet up. Not that I’m complaining since it’s arguably some of our favourite past-times.

From the blog title and picture above, it’s easy to guess the movie we watched was “Sherlock Holmes”. I’ve never been really curious about this world-famous fictional character even though it’s been depicted in so many cartoons, novels, movies and so on. I only know him as a great detective who is able to solve some of the most bizarre mystery cases handed to him. That’s it. The things about Dr Watson and Adler are just fuzzy to me.

Because my knowledge of Holmes is as shallow as a puddle on a road, watching this movie made me realized why this man is no ordinary detective and why he is such a famous fictional character. His intellectual abilities and observation skills are beyond human-like!

Great storyline, effects, action and humour. Awesome awesome movie! Definitely a must-watch.

Although last night I was super upset over the fact that Changmin went to Brissie for his drama-filming, I was, at the same time, over the moon when I checked my UQ email.

I discovered that I made it to the Dean’s list for my BArts! People who achieved very high GPA will be put on the Dean’s list and I guess are considered to be one of the top in the course? XP

OH MY GOD. I CANNOT ABSOLUTELY BELIEVE THIS.

SHIM CHANG MIN, MY FAVOURITE MEMBER IN MY NO.1 FAVOURITE GROUP, IS IN BRISBANE.

B R I S B A N E, A U S T R A L I A.

NOT SYDNEY, NOT MELBOURNE, NOT PERTH, NOT ANYWHERE ELSE BUT BRISBANE.

DAAAAAMN IT!!!

WHY ME?! WHY ME?! T-T

I knew it. All along I had this gut feeling the filming of Changmin’s drama may take place in Gold Coast. Gold Coast is known to have one of the most beautiful beaches in Aus and there’s the great barrier reef and the theme parks too. Such typical scenes in Korean dramas…

The news of CM heading to Aus was released in Nov 09. My friend told me about it and I really really predicted that he may go to QLD. It was said the filming would take place at the end of Nov. BUT NO… IT TOOK PLACE THIS YEAR, JAN, WHEN I AM IN FREAKING SG.

WHY?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If he were to be in other parts of Aus, I would not feel so horrible. I am SO UPSET and ANGRY at the same time. I could have meet him… see him in person… stalk him without bodyguards… T-T

SAAAAAD!!!!! REALLY SAAAD!!!!!!

Defining moments in 2009

What can I say? It will be 2010 in a few hours and at this period of time, people are penning down their new year’s resolutions. Instead of new year’s resolutions, I prefer taking a step back and review moments that have happened during the pass year. Especially for 2009, it has been one hell of an adventure ride with what seemed like endless of moments of life experiences that will be etched in my memory for a long long time.

  1. Officially graduating from SP in May. It was something I had look forward to during my years in SP. Being in the course was torturous for so many reasons. I know that I have wasted 3 years studying Optometry in SP, but I graduated with a diploma successfully. It’s a step that took me to where I am today. Under certain circumstances, perhaps this diploma will even help me in the future.

  2. Korea trip in March. Being able to step foot into my dream country for the first time was definitely one defining moment I will never forget. Experiencing the bit of life the Koreans led was awesome! We climbed mountains in Jeju-do, went to hotsprings in Gyeonggi-do, shopped till the wee hours in Dong Dae Mun, went to two of the most famous theme parks in Korea, Everland and Lotte World. Travelling with tour group provide these benefits of going to many sight-seeing places and other places where it would be difficult to go without tour guides. But I really want to go again without tour guide the next time, free and easy!

  3. FT Island Showcase in Singapore held in June. It was the last Kpop event before I left for Aus. Had a blast, having attended FTI’s live performance! <3

  4. Commencement of my study abroad in Brisbane, Aus in July. Most defining moment of all, hey? First time to Australia, first time to Brissie, first time to UQ, first time to do everything myself… So many first-times in Aus. Experiencing the life in Aus has definitely open up my eyes and made me realised that there is so much more out there than the little sunny island I grew up in. First semester of studies, although it can be stressful at times, was very interesting and enjoyable. For the first time (in my life thus far), I looked forward to studying! I looked forward to studying for my Korean oral/written exams. Guess that is sort of reflected from my results. :) Also, the friends I made in Aus come from all parts of the world and that really added colours to my life. :D

For this… I want to send this message to my mum who made these possible (sounds like I just received an award huh? LOL):

  5. Seoul’d Out Festival in Dec. One of the best evenings of the year! One could feel the intensity of Korean culture at fort canning that evening. Korean traditional performances, Korean B-Boys and best of all, Kpop artistes’ performances. Having to see FT Island for the 2nd time, watching Abracadabra “hip dance” live, seeing Kim Jun and T-Max rocked the stage was absolute craziness! :D

IRIS- epic drama with epic fail ending

image

SYNOPSIS: Assassin Kim Hyun Joon and psychological analyst Choi Seung Hee are lovers as well as colleagues at secret intelligence organization, NSS. Due to a friend’s betrayal, they go through hell with the unlucky fate of continually loving each other but unable to say or do anything about it. Jin Sa Woo is a secret agent who was at the top of his class. However, since meeting Hyun Joon and Seung Hee, he struggles to obey orders. He and Hyun Joon are friends in work but foes in love, as both care for Seung Hee.

The character played by T.O.P is an assassin for IRIS, a secret organization hidden the States. He has been assigned to kill Hyun Joon. Kim Sun Hwa is a North Korean security agent who follows her security team leader, Park Chul Yung, like a shadow. She is also ordered to chase after Hyun Joon, but falls in love with him after being discarded by her country.

The cast and crew will film in several different countries (Japan, U.S., China, Russia) with an astounding budget of approximately $15 million USD (based on March 17’s exchange rate).

While watching the drama, thoughts running through my mind were, “DAMN! This drama is AWESOME!” “This will probably be one of the few dramas which I’ve no complains about.”

But right till the end of the drama, the very end… comes with the most disappointing endings I’ve ever seen. :(

At the end, my thoughts were, “WHAT?! Is that it?! WTF?!” Actually I said those words out loud. I am so so so disappointed with the ending.

This drama is seriously one hell of a thrill ride with betrayal, conspiracies, heart-thumping action and romance. Everything is really awesome except the ending.

Why?!!! Such a large scale drama to end so pathetically…

I read that it was because the staff wanted to make way for a 2nd season but really, even so, the drama could have ended in a different way that will at least make audiences feel worth it. If you’ve watched it, you would know what I mean…

Anyways, there is another “special episode” that was released last week. I haven’t watched it yet… Will do so as soon as it’s available for DL. I hope this special will appease my extreme disappointment with the ending.

Without the ending, this drama is a 5 stars! But now… I don’t know, 3.5 or 4?
