Queen Seon Deok- Epic drama!

QueenSunDeok

Okay, I realised I haven’t blogged anything about Queen Seon Deok after finally completing it 2 weeks ago. This drama totally deserved all that hype it has received ever since airing in Korea. It is SO good. So so so awesome. Each episode leaves you at the edge of your seat, with the twists and conspiracies entwining the characters, it definitely is worth watching even if it’s a 62-episode drama!

This drama has casts who were pretty under-rated before but ever since Queen Seon Deok, it brought their status to a much higher level which they well deserved. Each character was played out so well, it was difficult not to be immersed in the story. Go Hyun Jung and Kim Nam Gil playing Mishil and Bidam respectively have definitely received the most attention among the casts. I must say both characters were indeed unforgettable and convincing.

The multiple expressions of Bidam.

Oh yes, not to mention Yoo Seungho, the very talented child actor and currently one of my favourite actors, also played an important role in this drama. He is such a talent! I really like him~ ^^

The ending of the drama was a peaceful one although Bidam has too much of a tragic ending. :( I wish the writers didn’t have to give him such an ending. Well, I guess Bidam’s ending was the only unsatisfactory factor of this drama. Other than that, this drama is ‘a’ to the ‘w’ to the ‘e’ some!

He came to UQ for me and we had lunch that I made. The rice I cooked was horrible- super hard… didn’t put enough water. Compare with the food he made for me, my lunch was so terrible. Lol… ><”

Argh… I’m wearing the birthday present he gave me but it’s half hidden in the photo. :/

p.s. I seriously need a hair dye. Look at my ugly black roots!

What’s been going on?

Korean tests tests tests- oral and written! ><” This week and next week…

Thanks to A I’ve got some practice for oral tests ^^ but you know when I’m nervous I tend to forget a lot of things. That was what happened for today’s oral. :( Although my prof said I did well but I don’t think so.

There’s another oral test tomorrow. For that test, we need to write up something on our own- anything about Korea. So I decided to write on my favourite Korean variety show- Family Outing~!! :D It’s a familiar and fun topic to write on. Even though I had difficulties trying to come up with a variety of sentence structures, I had fun doing it! And the prof only requires us to write half a page, so it was not too difficult.

As for my new commitment, things are going great so far even though we can’t see each other so often due to our schedules. I reckon we’ll have more time together in July when he quits his job and me having semester break. You know, he is so so so sweet. He did many many things for me even before we became official. ^^

If you’ve seen my fb…

….yes I am attached! I still don’t believe it. I am not SINGLE anymore. I have a BF. Still feels surreal. Especially since he’s Korean.

The Golden Key

I am finally 21, the legal age. For all 89ers, this year is our year! That’s why events and photos of 21st birthday parties are popping up every now and then in Facebook. Although I felt that it was really such a pity I could not celebrate this important birthday in Singapore where all my family and close friends are, I looked on the brighter side of things. Thanks to my good friend, LN, we managed to throw a successful 21st party on 15th May 2010.

It was a Saturday, the perfect day when everyone could just stay out a little bit later than usual and slack a little. Initially, the party was supposed to be held at the BBQ area of my apartment but when it became evening, the lights at the area went off! The area was so dark, we couldn’t even see each other’s facial expressions. In the end, we all moved to my place where, luckily, it is big enough to hold a party. :)

My party was a potluck party so I informed everyone to bring food (either cooked by themselves or bought). Most of my friends brought food which they cooked themselves! Such a homely sight and I really appreciated their efforts! The food was so delicious and it was like a home-made buffet. There was so much food as well… everyone ate till bloated! Well, at least I did!

After dinner, all of us sat around the living room to play games that LN and I have planned. We played “dare” and “indian poker”. Dare game was awesome because of the punishment but naturally I got picked the most to do penalties since I was the birthday girl. The penalties were madness, though I was one of the creators but I still had to admit that! Anyways I felt super embarrassed doing those penalties. Had to pole dance, do stupid actions… LOL. But I guess that’s the whole point of making it fun!

After games, we had “cake-cutting”! But in my birthday, there is no cake. There’s only DONUTS to make up for the cake! The reason why there is no cake is all my fault. The day before my birthday I was supposed to order a custom-made cake before 2pm but I TOTALLY forgot it. TOTALLY until 5pm which was too late. :( I was crushed that time because the cake we wanted to order was huge, all chocolatey and in the shape of “21”.

But well, it could not be helped. So instead of a normal cake, I decided to use donuts to make it more special. I mean, normal cakes are always used during normal birthdays but 21st has to be a little different. ^^

I’m so glad the party was a success and that everyone enjoyed it! As I’ve never held parties before, I was a little worried at first that the party might be a flop… but thanks to my awesome friends it went well!

Looking on the bright side, in future if anyone was to ask me how I celebrated my 21st, I would have a different answer than most Singaporeans and that is, I celebrated in Australia by having a party! I feel really thankful for the people who turned up and really appreciate them for making the party such a success!

Always fun~

Yesterday went out with A, T and C again! Haha~ We went to watch Iron Man 2 together. The movie has a lot of boring scenes! So many dialogues! Too little action! I almost fell asleep at a point. Generally, I thought the whole movie was kind of lame. Not worth going to the cinemas.

After the movie, we went to eat at a Singapore restaurant. I don’t know, it doesn’t seem like A and T were impressed with the food that they ate. Anyways the restaurant wasn’t selling authentic Singaporean food anyway. But it was one of the easily accessible place to get a close to home kind of food in the city.

When dinner was done, we didn’t want to go home so early so we went to 노래방 (noraebang)!! It means karaoke. We only sang for an hour though but I still felt good, after so long of not going to a karaoke. Plus, I can sing Korean songs! Very shiock. But I thought we weren’t very high because we’re not close so I didn’t want to go crazy in front of them. LOL.

After noraebang, we went to drink soju!! LOL. Soju again! :P But this time super fun because we played drinking games. Haha~ T taught us a new game… it was so fun and he himself kept losing thus having to drink more. And the rest of us kept sabotaging him as well. XD

Gosh, I had a fun time yesterday. ^^

And well, I’m looking forward to next week because it’s going to be a special day and I hope everything being planned will go smoothly! :D

In love with…

… this song: There is no love by Gummy

PUKE!!

OH MY FREAK FRACKING &^#(@^$)@(*$&Y# GAWD!!

Yesterday I had one of the most disgusting experience eveeeeerrrr! I felt sick, felt nauseas, felt the hair on every inch of my body stand and I just wanted PUKE! Oh My God. It was soooo bad, it was madness, it was just plain disgusting!

So what happened was yesterday I cooked lunch in the morning and packed it to school. In the morning I was in a rush and so I just grabbed a plastic bag from our drawer where all the plastic bags are. I placed my lunch box and a spoon inside, tied it and put it in my bag.

On the way to school, when I opened my bag, I smelled something STRONG from my bag. It was like a decomposing smell. It was a really awful and puke-able smell. I checked if there was anything decaying in my bag but found nothing. So I thought perhaps it’s because the smell from my food was mixed with the smell of my books. But previously I had brought lunch to school before and this never happened. Anyways being the absent-minded me, I just shrugged it away.

During lunch time, when I took out my lunch, the smell was stronger. I looked everywhere thinking that I might find something disgusting but I didn’t. So I just hurriedly took out the spoon from the bag and ate my lunch. As usual I was super hungry during lunch time. Note this, I was eating from my lunchbox that I didn’t take out from the plastic bag. I just untied the plastic bag and ate from the box with the plastic bag underneath.

The whole day the strong smell stayed in my bag. I was really turned off by it. But I didn’t know what was the problem… so I just shrugged off.

By the time I got home, I was determined to find that stupid foul smell! So I took out my lunch box and realised the smell (actually I had suspected this before) was coming from the plastic bag. I took out my lunch box and checked it- nothing wrong. Then I looked into the plastic bag- the smell came from there but it was empty… empty until…. I spotted…

something small and white. Small, white and…. FREAKING WRIGGLING!!!!!!!!!!

EFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT WAS AN EFFING M-A-G-G-O-T. MAGGOT. Not one, but a few… like 4 or 5?! OH MY GOD… I FELT LIKE PUKING. I COULDN’T MOVE FOR A FEW SECS. I was so disgusted my hair stood, I couldn’t move and I felt nauseas. Even typing this makes me feel like puking.

My spoon which I ate from…. was in that plastic bag. While eating lunch, my lunch box was in that plastic bag. I was carrying maggots around the whole day. I FELT LIKE DYING!!!!!!!!! Even now I feel like there are maggots around me. I still can’t shake off that disgusted feeling.

Insects are like my number one fear… to think the maggots… ARGH!!!

I am officially psychologically affected.

Coolangatta, Gold Coast

Monday was a public holiday in Aus! Labour’s Day!

Went on an outing with my Korean and Singaporean friends. There were 5 of us, only 2 of us are Singaporeans. Actually my SG friend is a Korean major as well but she just started learning Korean this year. She’s now the language partner of my language partner’s hyung (elder brother, but not related by blood). Five of us – A, T, D, C and me.

Previously I went on a road trip with A and T last time. This time we went to Coolangatta!

We went sight-seeing around Coolangatta beach and climbed the rocky shores. Well, to be more specific, we walked across the rocky areas. Then we went to Surfer’s Paradise (the very famous beach in Gold Coast). That was the second time I went to the beach. First time was with Mum and sis. Haha.. The five of us played around the beach, walking across the sand and trying not to get touched by the sea water. Somehow it was not convenient to take off our shoes that time. We still had fun… ^^

OH.. I didn’t take any photos while at Surfer’s Paradise because I went there before. Seriously, the sky, sea and beaches in Aus are so beautiful~!! The wind blowing through your hair while strolling across the beautiful beach sure can soothe your soul. Wonderful feeling….^^

After last week’s stay-home weekend, this weekend sure was a treat for me. Drank soju, attended Buddha Bday Fest and then travelling to Gold Coast. What an enjoyable weekend! :)

Buddha Birthday Festival

Attended the Buddha Birthday Festival today with my Korean friend, Jen. Just FYI, I knew her last year, so she isn’t my language partner. It was a weekend and I had no plans today so I attended the festival with her even though I’m not a Buddhist. There were multi-cultural performances, Asian/ other exotic food stalls, Souvenir stalls, Buddha statues and FIREWORKS. :D It sure was a great festival!

The festival is actually held over 3 days, from Friday to Sunday.

Today Jen and I watched all the multi-cultural performances presented to the public. We just sat at the grass in front of the stage and enjoyed (most of) the performances. After some time, Jen’s Korean friends came and joined us. More Korean friends? :P

Anyway we ate some food together and waited for the fireworks…

It was the 2nd time I appreciated fireworks by the Brisbane River. :)
