Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

Visited the Koala Sanctuary with Kel yesterday. This place is not only habited by Koalas, but also by Kangaroos, Wombats, Dingoes, barn animals, reptiles and those flying creatures such as birds and bats.

There isn’t any Koalas in SG so it was really cool and amazing to see a real life Koala so close and upfront for the first time! They are outrageously cute! They look like living soft toys hanging on the trees! They sleep on tree branches in a funny way- with their whole body curled up which seems like they could fall off the branch anytime.

Over at the sanctuary, there’s this cuddle area where people could cuddle the Koalas for free and pay a hefty amount of money for photo-taking! Well, I did both. ^^ It was expensive for the photo- 16aud but the photo came out nice, so yeah. Something to keep as a souvenir!

16aud for this. :x

After that, we went Kangaroo feeding! It was the most fun part of the entire trip. A packet of Kangaroo feed costs only 1aud. The kangaroos were all in this place called the Kangaroo Reserve and people could go in to feed them anytime (during the opening hours of the sanctuary of course). Best part? The kangaroos were all out in the open inside the reserve. No cages, no barriers. Just out in the open.

So you feed the kangaroos just like THAT.

A lot of them were just lazing around. But when they know you’ve got food, they’ll get up and approach you.

Tongue sticking out! Cute!!

We bought like 3 packets of feed (or was it 4? can’t remember) to feed the Kangaroos because it was just so fun! Another amazing thing was, when we fed the roos, we would come across mummy roos with their joeys in their pouches! Some joeys were feeding from the pouch, some joeys just had their heads out of the pouch while some had their tails and legs out of the pouches. Too cool!

Besides, Kangaroo feeding, we also went to the Barn to feed those hungry barn animals!

The sheep are so damn clever! When they hear the ruffle of our paper bag of feed, they just kept following us! Even when we feed the chickens or ponies, they just kept coming! In desperation to keep the sheep away, we had to hide our bags of feed.

Ponies!! SO CUTE! Their short and stubby legs! XD

Look at the bunch! The furry chickens look cute like that, but they are quite ugly when you see their faces beneath those thick fur.

IMG_2215
Chickedies! Okay, there’s no such thing as chickedies. Just a name my sis and I came up with whenever we see chicks!

Sophie, the sheep dog, looked like she was obsessed with keeping the sheep in one place. She was so fierce and kept staring at the sheep eye to eye!

So fun! If any of you come visit me and interested to go, I’ll definitely take you there! It’s so easy to go there as well. There’re 2 straight buses from the shopping centre. :D
